Morocco Travel Insurance

Request information about Morocco travel insurance options for your trip. Tell Travel Entry your dates, destinations, travellers and planned activities, and we point you to the kinds of cover worth considering and what to check before you buy – so you arrive protected against the things that can go wrong on the road.

We are not an insurer or insurance broker: we provide general information on request and do not sell, underwrite or advise on individual policies. Any policy is issued by, and under the terms of, the insurer you choose.

Why it matters

Why Morocco Travel Insurance Is Worth Having

Most trips to Morocco pass without a hitch. Insurance is for the minority that do not – and for the peace of mind on every other day.

Medical costs are paid up front

Private clinics and pharmacies generally expect payment at the time of treatment. Cover for medical expenses – and for repatriation if something serious happens – is the core reason to insure.

Trips have moving parts

Flights, riads, desert tours and transfers are often prepaid. Cancellation and curtailment cover protects that money if illness, a family emergency or a missed connection changes the plan.

Activities need specific cover

Atlas trekking, quad biking, surfing and camel or horse riding are commonly excluded from basic policies unless added. If your itinerary includes them, the policy has to say so.

What to look for

What Good Cover Usually Includes

Policies vary widely, and price alone is a poor guide to how a policy performs when something goes wrong. The list opposite is the general shape of a sound travel policy; the exact limits, excesses and exclusions are set by each insurer and are what you should compare. Read the policy wording – especially the exclusions – before you rely on it.

If you have an existing annual or credit-card policy, check that Morocco is within its geographical scope and that your planned activities and trip length are covered before assuming you are protected.

Typical components

  • Emergency medical expenses and hospital treatment
  • Medical evacuation and repatriation
  • Cancellation and curtailment of prepaid travel
  • Baggage, personal belongings and documents
  • Travel delay and missed connections
  • Personal liability
  • Optional add-ons – adventure activities, rental-car excess, winter or water sports

How it works

How an Insurance Information Request Works

STEP 1

Describe the trip

Dates, destinations, travellers and ages, country of residence, and any activities such as trekking, surfing or driving.

STEP 2

We reply with information

The kinds of cover relevant to your plan, the points to check for Morocco and your activities, and where such policies can be obtained.

STEP 3

You compare and choose

The decision, the purchase and the contract are between you and the insurer. Nothing is sold or charged by Travel Entry.

STEP 4

Travel with the documents

Keep the policy number and the insurer’s emergency line with you, separately from your passport, and know the claims procedure before you need it.

Good to Know

  • Information only. Travel Entry is not an insurer or broker and does not sell, arrange or advise on individual policies. We provide general information on request; the policy you buy is a contract between you and the insurer.
  • Buy early. Cancellation cover only helps if it is in place before something happens – ideally take it out when you book the trip, not the week before departure.
  • Declare what matters. Pre-existing medical conditions and planned activities need to be declared; undeclared, they are a common reason claims are refused.
  • Rental cars. Vehicle damage is usually handled by the rental company’s own insurance and excess, not by travel insurance; see car rental and ask about excess cover.
  • Insurance and the eVisa. Travel insurance is not among the documents requested in the Morocco eVisa application – see the requirements – and having a policy has no effect on the visa decision, which is made by the Moroccan authorities. It is still strongly advisable for the trip itself.
  • Check the cover. Make sure the policy names Morocco, covers the activities you plan (desert, mountains, driving) and includes medical repatriation.

Morocco Travel Insurance: Frequently Asked Questions

Does Travel Entry sell travel insurance?

No. We provide general information about travel insurance options on request. We are not an insurer or broker, and any policy is bought directly from, and issued by, the insurer you choose.

Is travel insurance required to enter Morocco or to get the eVisa?

It is not among the documents requested in the eVisa application, and it does not influence the decision, which is made by the Moroccan authorities. Entry requirements are set by those authorities and can change, so check current rules before travelling. Regardless of requirements, cover is strongly advisable.

What should a policy for Morocco cover?

At minimum, emergency medical expenses with evacuation and repatriation, cancellation and curtailment, baggage and personal liability – plus any activities you plan, such as trekking, surfing, quad biking or riding, which are often excluded unless added.

Is my existing annual or credit-card policy enough?

Possibly, but check three things: that Morocco is within the policy’s geographical scope, that your trip length is within its limit, and that your activities are covered. Credit-card policies in particular often have narrow conditions.

When should I buy it?

As soon as you have paid for anything non-refundable. Cancellation cover protects you only for events that happen after the policy starts.

What happens if I need medical care in Morocco?

Pharmacies are widespread and private clinics in the main cities treat visitors; both usually expect payment at the time. Contact your insurer’s emergency line as early as possible – many policies require it – and keep all receipts for the claim.
